Introduction

Dr. Muhammad Awais Abid is an experienced Consultant Physician, Diabetologist, Hepatologist and Gastroenterologist with a special interest in the comprehensive management of diabetes, obesity, metabolic disorders and liver disease, alongside complex and challenging medical conditions.

His clinical practice focuses on early diagnosis, prevention of complications and individualized long-term management. He has particular expertise in diabetes and its complications, including diabetic neuropathy, nephropathy and diabetic foot disease. He also provides comprehensive assessment and management of obesity, metabolic health, nutritional status, underweight, malnutrition and unexplained weight loss.

With expertise in gastroenterology and hepatology, Dr. Abid manages conditions including fatty liver/MASLD, abdominal discomfort, IBS, chronic diarrhea, constipation, malabsorption syndromes, anemia, gastrointestinal bleeding and complex liver and gastrointestinal disorders.

He also manages asthma, COPD, infectious diseases and multisystem medical conditions, with particular experience in complex and referred cases requiring a comprehensive internal-medicine assessment.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Abid is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, clinical training and supervision. He serves as Associate Professor of Medicine at Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), Lahore, and is involved in postgraduate supervision and examination activities with the University of Health Sciences (UHS).
